Now here is a movie I would love to see, First Sunday. If anybody wants to go, I’ll drive.

Now I happen to be living in the UK at the moment and when you go to the movies they ask you if you want sweet or salted popcorn. The first time I went, “Sweet? What is sweet popcorn?” And then I discovered the truth, it is popcorn that is sweet. Ahh, the logic escaped me.

Of course once Sean and I were in Belfast on a business trip and he took a big bite of the popcorn at the bar at Cayenne and proclaimed “Mum, this popcorn is savory”. He was the first one to eat it so the pissed on hands of drunk patrons had not filtered through it yet. Have you ever seen those studies of how much urine those mints are covered with as you leave the restaurant? Apparently unwashed hands reach into the open bowl instead of politely using the little community spoon.

Sweet, savory, salted or just plain old to dry choke on popcorn, certainly you can’t watch a movie without the oral fixation of a huge tub of foreign popped overpriced popcorn.
