Squeaking in just before the cut off of 2007 was my favorite piece of technology. Before nominating this gadget I had to think carefully about how it has impacted my life and if my love for this thing is heightened because I just got it. And I don’t think it has. It is truly amazing.

The runner up technology gadget of the year for me was my new Sanyo Xacti video and still camera. While not a high priced HD digital camera, it was an affordable camera that truly was plug and play. It is so small and light that I can put it in the pocket of my jeans and go.

And unfortunately the losing technology product of 2007, for me, has to got to be Windows Vista. After I installed it, I really enjoyed the new interface but between compatibility, performance and other issues it really began to bug me. I’m one of those guys that went back and reinstalled XP on the old laptop after a couple of months. I gave it a fair try.

And that leads me into my winning technology product of 2007, my MacBook Pro laptop. It’s been 20 years since I abandoned Mac and now that I’m back, I regret the time away.

The 17 1920 pixel screen is amazing and the notebook runs and runs without a hiccup. I’m on the thing like 18 hours a day so I’ve stretched it’s legs fairly well in just a few weeks.

I fired up the old PC laptop just today and it choked on a simple task and then when I tried to stop the process, guess what, it hung. Surprise! That was my other new laptop in 2007 which I loved when I got it and now I don’t want to use it at all.

My MacBook Pro with 4GB RAM and high-res screen allows me to run an XP virtual machine window and windows programs and Mac based programs simultaneously. I literally have not had to reboot a single time on the Mac.

Installing software is a dream on the Mac. All you have to do is drag the Apple OS application and drop it into the application folder and it is good to go. Want to get rid of an application, drag the folder into the trash. Done.

Nice job Apple, I’m a believer now. It’s just too bad than lenders have tightened up on easy credit because the one drawback of the MacBook Pro is that it’s expensive. If you can afford it, get it, you won’t be sorry.
