I’ll have to admit, I’m not sure I get Digg, at all. It seems like almost all I keep reading about and people keep raving about how amazing it is to get on the front page of Digg and then you get all sorts of crazy traffic on your blog or site.
I can barely get a page in Digg, forget about making it to the home page and getting all that free traffic I keep hearing about.
“Digg, Fa-Get A-Bout It
In fact, I don’t even think those stories of so much traffic from Digg that it makes your server sweat are true. And if they are, I’d probably have a better chance of winning the lottery that hitting the front page of Digg.
Just because I’ll never make it to the front page of Digg I’m going to start telling myself I don’t want to anyway. Besides, do I really want to be next to “Dad Sodomized A-Hole Teen Stepson Who Raped His Daughter. 3,846 people have voted for that article. What in the world do I have to offer to top that? I’m afraid to ask and more importantly, I don’t want to do it.
How about top story number 2, “100 Greatest Quotes from Fundamentalist Christian Chat Rooms. Now that’s just scary, maybe more so than the first one, but 2,976 loved it.
I’m also a little confused on how Digg actually works because the top general story on the home page has 101 Diggs but they are in this crazy new math order:
Can someone please help me understand what the pattern is to the Digg chaos? How does this Digg thing actually work?
