So breaking news today from California.

Pop star Britney Spears was taken from her home in Los Angeles by police and rushed to a hospital in the early hours of Thursday morning, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Spears, 26, was rushed into an ambulance from a side entrance of her home in the Studio City district shortly after 1 a.m. (4 a.m. EST/9:00 British time), escorted by more than a dozen motorcycle officers, two police cars and two police helicopters, the Times reported, citing unidentified authorities.

Television images showed the motorcade snaking its way through empty streets from Spears’ house.

She was taken to UCLA Medical Center after a call from her psychiatrist, the authorities told the newspaper. - Reuters

It made me think about how all the worry and intensity about trying to find happiness through money is a wasted exercise. Happiness and wealth are two completely different things. Poor people can be happy and wealthy people can be sad.

Britney Spears is wealthy beyond most people in the world and yet I am sure that the three people left that care about her would rather see her have her mental health than the money.

The phenomena that was Britney Spears was a legacy as a sexy and talented entertainer. I’ll confess, my daughter once dragged me to a Britney Spears concert and to be honest I thought it was genuinely entertaining and a great performance.

What isn’t so great these days is seeing pictures of Britney Spears as she decompensates in front of our eyes. Someone send Dr. Phil back in, the girl needs help.

All excuses aside now I think we can only assume that she is suffering from a mental illness that needs treatment. What was once laughed away her just being trailer trash, white trash or just plain gross after the Federline marriage, has now fallen into the category of watching a deer getting hit by a speeding car and then repeatedly run over. Cool has turned to cruel.

It is said that Britney Spears is currently worth about $125 million and manages to get by on $737,000 a month in income, before taxes, but according to recent court documents, still unable to save a penny.
