I couldn’t pass on this news out of the U.K. today. A new study out by the Fawcett Society says the practice of entertaining clients in lap-dancing clubs is increasingly commonplace in the City of London.
The manifesto, entitled Sexism and the City, condemns the “widespread” culture of using lap-dancing establishments as a backdrop for business dealings.
You know, now that they mention it, since I’ve been in the U.K. for the past two years, I have been asked by a couple of business associates to be their guest at a lap-dance club. I said no and found the offer strange. However, I did go into one lap-dance club out of curiosity. You can read about my experience here.
Meanwhile, the report reveals that more big business and financial firms are using strip clubs to broker deals and host lunches than ever before.
I just find it odd that guys can go and close a business deal while someone is grinding in their face. I’m not sure I’ve want to close a deal for new photocopiers while watching the salesman get a sex buzz on.
