Progress, progress, progress, always forward, so say many. The drive to succeed and make money is the ultimate pursuit for the driven masses. The ability to earn and spend is an unsatisfied quest that become a goal rather than a meaningful exercise.

Since my last post I have found myself detoured with all the things you’d expect in setting up a new house. Every time I reach for something it’s not there, because I don’t have one of it, whatever it is. I need an envelope to mail something, that’s right, no envelopes. Now I need a stamp, damn!

My days of unproductive effort have beaten me down to a positive point where I realize that no matter how hard I try, forward progress at this point is going to be almost impossible so I just might as well enjoy the days.

By broadening my appreciation window I’ve found real joy in the following events since my last post.

  • I can put the car in neutral and coast from the entrance to my neighborhood, down the street, turn onto my street and coast all the way into the garage. Saves a bit of gas.
  • I’ve enjoyed the pleasure of free Wifi at my local gas station. I found it by accident but the power went out on Sunday morning and I needed to check some stuff so I went to the gas station, got gas, and noticed on my laptop that I had a wireless signal. Who knew, so I checked my email.
  • I got a big smile on my face when the clerk at the grocery store saw I was a bit stressed and put a surprise free box of Milk Duds in my bag. I discovered it when I got home. Thank you kind girl.
  • I was so thankful that I went to Best Buy last night and they did not ask me if I had a reward card.
  • I had the best barbeque sandwich at Shane’s barbeque last night. The staff there was so nice and kind. Bless you for the good food. Yummm.

So till next time, ta ta for now.

Steve

P.S. Don’t forget to smell the roses, or at least the barbeque.
