“Steve U R A Twat”

To this day I am still stunned by some of the comments that people post on this and other blogs. Messages of nastiness and hate. And the same question always comes to mind, why?

So yesterday someone posted a comment that I did not approve that said, in it’s entirety, “Steve U R A Twat” and it just got me thinking about what must go through someone’s mind to feel that it is appropriate to submit a comment like that.

I can understand a difference of opinion or disagreement but it would never occur to me to post a “You Suck Asshole” comment on a blog.

Is it immaturity, emotional damage, anger? What is it for some completely unknown and anonymous person to do that?

How do you rationalize with someone who posts a comment like that? Or do you even try?

Steve, I see comments like that on blogs and in chat rooms constantly. Just watching the chat room during the Phoenix landing last night it was amazing to see the number of outrageous comments. Don’t try to rationalize why someone would leave a comment that is totally inappropriate. Just be thankful for the good comments and delete the others.

Steve, u r NOT a twat. I should know, because I’ve met you. You are a clever, funny, creative, enterprising, generous guy…and many more wonderful things like great father, husband, friend, adviser, etc… I should think this person doesn’t even know what these words mean. I recently had someone comment on my youtube post something like you lesbians and gays make me sick and rot my christian home or some such nonsense. I thought…there are so many things wrong with that statement, I don’t know where to begin…My reply was…you can’t be serious…or you’re on crack! I think this poster could be the same person who has so much time on his hands he spends it developing bad internet karma. All I can say to that guy is, I’m rubber and you’re glue, whatever you say bounces off me and sticks to you! Asshole!

Hey Steve;
Take a look around us here in the USA brother. Knee jerk reactions and immaturity when called to pay for their actions seems to be the norm for most people we hear about. I refuse to believe that this is the majority. However, these are the people you see and hear always. No thought, no well thought out plan, just immediate blurting out of emotion like little kids calling each other names and needing a spanking.

I enjoy your posts tremendously. So don’t let the idiots get you down.

Some people are just rude. We’d like to think that because we share parts of ourselves online that it shields us from assholes but it doesn’t. I’ve read comments on some of my favorite blogs today that were down right cruel. I for one will not post comments on my blog that offend me. I try not to take it personally because I know the person reading my blog doesn’t really know me. But most of all I could give a rats ass what people thought of my words-unless they agree with me of course lol.

Don’t let the haters get to you.
